Life. Purpose. Control.

So one day you just stared up at the stars

And asked yourself a couple of important questions

Why am I here?

Where am I going?

There’s a purpose for me but why does everyone seem to know what it is but me?

Oh you’ve guessed, but you still don’t feel like you’re living up to your potential

There’s so much more you could be but you have no idea where you’re going

Or how you’re getting there

It’s easy to think and plan, and plan and think again

But life tends to have a mind of its own and just when you think you have it all figured out

It grabs a pen and licks it thumb to flip through your carefully written pages and say,

“Mind if I make a couple changes here and there?”

And you meekly nod yes and move out of the way

Um, why?

Because the last time you rebelled and tried to control your own future

Life just bent you over the desk and took control of you instead

So you’ve learned to go with the flow

To roll with the punches

Yeah.

All the cliches in the world can’t change the way you feel about that.

You should have some say in all this, shouldn’t you?

Never mind what the gurus say, they are all lucky or favored by life.

Or are they?

I don’t know. It’s hard to say.

You simply want to know what your goal should be

But honey, some people are born knowing what footprint they’re meant to leave on this earth

And others have to figure it all out along the way

I feel you, love, I really do

But if you’ve asked yourself those questions and you just don’t know the answers

Then do the best you can at every point along your journey

And enjoy your life along the way when you can

If everyone became a hero

No one would need to be saved

If we all were meant to change the world

Then who’d actually have a chance to taste the changes

So, please, come down from the stars and feel the sand under your feet

Go on, darling.

Enjoy the sunshine and love today for what it is

Life is a bitch but she is also a blessing.

Ride the waves, just don’t drown.
